BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD – May 15, 2022 – The Baltimore Symphonic Band (BSB), a 35 piece musical ensemble based at CCBC Essex, today announced that it will perform a concert at historic Springfield Barn in Williamsport, MD on Sunday June 12 at noon as a part of Maryland Community Band Day.
Maryland Community Band Day is an annual festival that brings together community bands from all over the state of Maryland for a full day of performances and camaraderie.
“Band Day was started by the Baltimore Symphonic Band and the Southern Maryland Community Band,” said Cindy Suchanek, president and concert master of the Baltimore Symphonic Band. “Each year, the festival moves to a different community, and the venues over the years have included Baltimore’s Inner Harbor and Annapolis.”
BSB will perform Gustav Holst’s’ “First Suite in Eb,” Frank Ticheli’s “An American Elegy,” Steven Reineke’s “Fate of the Gods,” John Philip Sousa’s “El Capitan” and more.
The Baltimore Symphonic Band is a 35 piece community concert band based at CCBC Essex. Unlike other community bands, the BSB is fully integrated with the Performing Arts instruction at CCBC and affords members the opportunity to receive college credit for their participation.
